Title: Kansas Vista, by Jacob Hayes Artist: Fine Arts, KU Medium: oil on canvas Height: 16.000" Width: 20.000" Keywords: McCrea farm, Lecompton, Kansas ![]() This class for me was a wonderful struggle, not only for the shift in subject matter but trying to be organized enough to transport two fellow classmates and to paint in the elements. As overwhelming as it may have been I feel that I have revived my connection with the countryside and have a whole new respect for the art of the landscape. I was drawn to the vistas and openness that Kansas is so well known for. The fields, sky, water and weather were the continuing themes of my work. The process and style changed with every painting in search for the connection I felt and the translation to the canvas. Each painting was a response to the previous one. Although this style never was found cohesively, the emotion transfer for me was a success. Jacob Hayes |
