Title: Kansas City, Late November 2009, by Sarah Taggart Artist: Fine Arts, KU Season: Fall Medium: Fall Height: 20.000" Width: 41.000" Keywords: Liberty Memorial, Kansas City Additional images: ![]() ![]() My experience in this landscape class has been unlike any other studio I’ve experienced in the past. I’ve had to learn how to paint in all sorts of environments, the heat, the rain, and the freezing cold. The most memorable experience I had is when I painted the grain elevators in Perry, KS. Although the temperature was nice that September afternoon I still managed to get a tan. Also, being from Kansas City I had quite the culture shock painting in such a small community. I remember being dropped off that day and left alone to paint—just me, my paints, my easel and some canvas. It seemed that everyone in town was fascinated by my presence. People would walk by, ride by in their bikes or my personal favorite, ride their lawn mowers by just to see what I was up to. Experiences like that are things that would never happen in the studio and that in my opinion can really change the way a landscape is crafted. It is because of experiences like this one that this class will always stick out in my mind as one the most memorable experiences I had in college. Sarah Taggart |
