During my first experiences of “en plein air” painting my senses were utterly overwhelmed with the vivid colors and detail that lend themselves well to quick sketches in paint that make it possible to capture the movement and dynamic color. Overall painting from the source while being surrounded by nature created a sense of isolation that allowed more creative freedom than is available when working in the studio.
